Hah! Finally
the fifth edition of Ipl is also over. Many of you may be thinking why I am
writing all these but the reason is that today I am going to write something
about my favorite Ipl time i.e. Kolkata Knight Riders (abbreviated as kkr).
As other teams
kkr is also a team own by the great star Shahrukh Khan. It’s the team of West
Bengal. So as a West Bengal born it’s my favorite team. Now let’s tell from the
beginning. It was the year 2008 a new cricket league was going to begin. There
were 8 teams from 8 states and Kolkata was captained by the prince of Kolkata
Sourav Ganguly. Kkr started in such a way as if it was looking kkr is going to
win it but luck didn’t favour. They were sixth out of eight.
Year 2009
came. Due to some problems Ipl was shifted to South Africa. Kkr’s captain was a
new-Zealander. We can say that was the cursing year for kkr. Kkr became last
out of 8 teams and 2009 was the worst for kkr in all fields in media in field
and everywhere……so it is better to not write much about 2009’s Ipl.
Then came
2010. Kkr’s jersey colour was changed. From black it was made purple. Sourav
was re-made as the captain. Again his beginning was superb 1st out
of 8th team but gradually falling and falling they went to 5th
out of 8. People started saying kkr is the poorest team of all time. People
also started thinking surely Srk will now sell the team to other persons but
luckily he didn’t. Kkr was the only team who didn’t qualify for the first four
teams in 3 Ipl editions.
Now Ipl was
getting corrupted day by day. Chairman of Ipl was changed and many other things
were also changed. Some players were left out many exchanges took place.
Ganguly was sold out and no-one bought him. Two new teams were added so it was
now out of 10 teams. Delhi prince Gautam Gambhir was the kkr captain.
At the
beginning kkr was banned by Kolkata people for selling out Ganguly. Kolkata was
getting no persons for the match at Eden Gardens. So Shahrukh decided to cut
down the price of tickets in Kolkata. Gradually kkr improved. Finally they
became fourth out of 10 teams in 2011. Kkr fought and went to clt20 but their also they lost.
“New Dawn.
New Knights”. This was the theme for gauti & co in 2012. New logo was made
for kkr. Trevor Bayliss was the coach for the knights. All was fresh and new. Kkr
was favorite for many people. This time the Ipl was out of 9 teams. Many
mystery players were there.
It began
with many excitements. First two match kkr again lost and many people started
saying “New Dawn. Old Knights”. All said
that same act started. But a spinner Narine was the key player for Kkr’s
bowling. Even Akram could not understand his style. Kkr made record 6 out of 6
wins. KKR qualified for the semis and won and became finalists. The finals were
between Kolkata and Chennai (Last two year’s champion).
The day
arrived. Csk gave Kolkata a huge target of 191 runs. In this position Gambhir
was out in first over. Then came Bisla and Kallis. Bisla a silent killer mad 89
of 48 balls and Kallis 69. The finishing touch was given by a Bengali-player
Manoj Tiwary. It was super Kolkata wining by the four of a Kolkata boy.
The momentum
of Ipl 5 finally goes to Kolkata Knight Riders. Today all are happy. At last I
want to say that today as we all are feeling very happy we are also sad for the
end of Ipl and we have to wait for another one year for this tournament to
return.
